WE stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in Feb 2024. The biggest consideration I had when I was choosing which hotel to stay at was I was traveling with my 83 yo mother. I glad that I picked this hotel for these reasons: 1. Location - it is located near the Prado museum and Santa Ana neighborhood. It is walking distance to several tourist spots: such as several museums, Plaza del Sol, Plaza Mayor. You also have several metro lines and buses that you can take to go to the other parts of the city. Taxis and Uber can easily find the hotel. Though it is surrounded by several commercial establishments and near gov't offices, I hardly heard a noise coming from the streets. It is also a short cab/uber ride away from the Madrid-Atocha station where you can catch both short or long-haul trains. There is also a grocery store right across the street. 2. Hotel condition and amenities - it is a very well maintained building and the rooms/facilities are very clean. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, my mom and I were given complimentary breakfast. Their spread is varied and there were very good number of options to choose from. 3. Most importantly, the staff - I booked my stay way ahead of time and as soon as I had a confirmation, somebody from the front office emailed me to ask if there is any special occasion or request that I had. This was followed through by several email responses from their front office for any inquiries I had. I definitely got recognized for my Diamond status. The hotel staff were very professional and accommodating - offered me support or some from of answers, and solutions, whenever I asked for assistance (even if it's not hotel-stay related). It definitely helped lessen the stress of traveling in a foreign country especially with an elderly mom in tow. When I return to Madrid, I will be choosing to stay in this hotel...always.

The staff are terrific - very helpful. They really cared about making our stay as great as possible. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were very clean and nice. The breakfast was great - lots of choices. The location was the best - close to the Prado, the Maritime Museum, Sol, the shopping district, and walking distance to Plaza Mayor. All around great!

A quick review about the property… SERVICE & STAFF: the courteousness, gallantry, gracefulness, serviceability, and politeness of the hotel staff is, by far, beyond any DoubleTree standard I’ve encountered throughout the Americas. The treatment at this hotel could well belong to a way fancier one. I certainly wish this were DoubleTree’s business as usual when it comes to service and staff. LOCATION: a very good one!!! Within walking distance of major sightseeing, eating, and drinking hotspots such as Gran Via, Plaza del Sol, Museo del Prado, Cibeles, and much more. And if you dare to walk a bit further you might even be able to reach Puerta de Alcala, C. de Serrano (high end shopping), and Parque de El Retiro to the east; and Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real, and Plaza de España to the West. So, pretty much you’ll have Madrid covered if touring the city. And, although not at stone’s throw, some subway stations and Atocha are also doable by walking or by a short and inexpensive taxi ride. ACCESSIBILITY: although wheelchair friendly, this hotel has some room for improvement and some heads-ups worth sharing. As starters, the property is located halfway uphill, which means manual wheelchairs might need to put some extra effort to make it in or out of the hotel (watch out the entry ramp, step, or whatever, as it may get tricky when on a wheelchair). Secondly, there’s only one lift, at times (especially when bringing your luggage up or down) it can be hard to find room for the wheelchair. Thirdly, the handicap room is not what you would call spacious (although the bathroom is), wasn’t easy to roll around on a manual wheelchair, can’t think of a scooter or any other electric-powered chair moving around with ease. Also, the layout of the room is not well thought-out; had to move and push the coffee table and chairs all the way to the back for making the space a bit more transitable. And finally, the view from the room is anything but appealing; a nice lift pit view that mandates curtains to be drawn so no one will peek. RESTAURANT AND BAR SCENE: the breakfast buffet is the well-known European style. It consists of coffee, juice, pastries, charcuterie, and a handful of warm dishes such as eggs, sausages, and omelets. All in all, not a big deal but probably not bad for kicking off your day without fuss and at a reasonable price. At night, the hotel restaurant turns into a sushi parlor, and although we didn’t try it, we heard good things about the restaurant. However cozy, the restaurant does not boast a nice view (actually, not view at all), a terrace, or any other major appeal. Finally, be mindful that, as part of Hilton hotels, your stay at DoubleTree comes with Hilton Honors status recognition (and its corresponding perks), points redemption, cancellation flexibility, ease of booking (especially appreciated for handicap rooms), and near-compliant ADA requirements.

•It’s not like other Double Trees in the U.S. and definitely bigger rooms and better amenities than other European hotels. •The staff at check in was great, the concierge was super nice and helpful and spent a long time with us going through things we could do in Madrid and suggestions. •The location is one of the best things about this hotel: it’s in a quiet area that felt safe, yet close to all the attractions and a lot of food options. You can walk to the museums and Retiro park. •The buffet breakfast could have been better with more vegetarian options. •The lobby is kind of small and the breakfast/sushi restaurant area is small and cramped too but all those are not important compared to the rooms. •The rooms were new, modern, clean, and pretty big. The beds/mattresses were not the most comfortable to sleep but when you’re tired and jet lagged, anything will do. •Overall, highly recommend to visitors to Madrid!

We booked this hotel at the last minute due to a change in our travel plans. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and quickly got us to our rooms. The rooms are clean and modern and bigger than most of the ones you find in Europe. The location is very good and it’s only a few blocks away from many good restaurants. I would stay here again.
